About the Name The X bar 4 brand was registered in the 1940's in Cascade county, Montana by Cathy's father-in-law and was used on a working cattle ranch. When he passed, the brand was inherited by her husband. To Cathy and Layne, the X bar 4 brand represents integrity, hard work, and the spirit of Montana. It only seemed fitting to honor this venture with the X bar 4 name.
